KEEPING IN TOUCH
Email
There are internet cafes in Pulawy where students will be
able to check their email for a small fee, usually around
$2/hour. Email is the best and cheapest way to keep in touch.
Telephone
Pay phones which work with Polish long distance phone cards are available
on campus and at the "Dom Chemika". Another option is to get
a Bell Prepaid phone card while you are still in Canada. You can purchase
the phone card at most convenience stores in Canada, and parents can add
money to it with a credit card by calling the toll free service line.
Rates from Poland to Canada are $0.37, using this card. To call, simply
dial the Canada Direct access number 0*0-800-111-4118 and follow the voice
prompts.
Contact information
If parents need to get in touch with students in a hurry,
they can call the following number:
(from Canada dial) 011-48-81-886-3705
The person that answers the phone MAY NOT have a working knowledge
of English so please be patient. Ask to speak with someone
who does speak English: Mateusz Swoboda, Ewa Swoboda or Witold
Swoboda, are all good options.
Mail
Mail from Canada to Poland can take anywhere from one to six weeks, depending
on time of year/size of package etc. In addition, there are no mail facilities
for students at ICMW in Pulawy. Sorry, care packages will have to wait
until you get home!
